NLB-SLV MOU

NLB and the State Library of Victoria (SLV) re-affirmed their working relationship on 10 October 2012 in a simple ceremony held at the Multi-purpose Room of Central Public Library at the NL Building.  This was followed by a talk by the new CEO and State Librarian for SLV, Ms. Sue Roberts – who presented an overview of what lies ahead for SLV.  For information about the State Library of Victoria, please visit: http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/

Professional Talk by Dr. Ismail Serageldin

The Director of the New Library of Alexandria (or Bibilotheca Alexandrina) was invited by NLB to give a talk at the NL Building.  He gamely covered 2 interesting topics on 11 October 2012 – Introduction to the New Library of Alexandria and the Future of Libraries.  Dr. Ismail shared the interesting histories of the old libraries of Alexandria and provided a up-close and personal account of the new library’s experience of the Arab Spring movement in Egypt.  He also offered his views about the up-coming changes expected in our world and how libraries should ready and adapt themselves to these changes.
