Membership

By joining LAS, you are joining a community who represent and advocate the interests of library and information professionals in Singapore. Take advantage of the Association’s programmes, training, networks, awards and grants, and resources.

Membership Term

  • LAS membership is based on calendar year. Subscription fees are due annually on 1 January and membership expires on 31 December each year.
  • New members who join LAS between 1 June and 31 October of the year shall pay only 50% of the subscription fee for that year.
  • New members who join LAS between 1 November and 31 December of the year shall pay the annual subscription fee and will enjoy membership benefits up to 31 December of the following year.

New Members

You can join as a new member, be it personal or institutional, by filling up this online Membership form. Do read up on membership categories, annual fees and benefits before signing up.

Returning Members

Renew your personal or institutional membership via the membership portal. For changes to membership category (e.g. associate to professional) or if you require help logging into the portal, please contact the membership committee membership@las.org.sg For institutional members who need assistance with invoicing (for membership renewal), please contact membership membership@las.org.sg and treasurer treasurer@las.org.sg.

Payment Mode

We accept payment by cheque or credit card via Stripe. For institutional members, we accept interbank transfers as well, and details would be furnished via invoices.

  • Persons with recognised para-professional diplomas/certificates in the library and information studies/science or equivalent qualifications.
  • Persons engaged in library and information services but do not hold professional degrees/post-graduate diplomas in library and information studies/science.
  • Full-time students of library and information studies/science courses.

Recognised Professional Qualifications

From time to time, there have been enquiries regarding the recognition of library science degrees from overseas.

The Council wishes to state that all first degrees and post-graduate qualifications that are accredited by the respective library and information professional bodies of Australia, Canada, NZ, UK and USA are recognised by LAS as professional qualifications for librarians.
