A Colleague and Friend
I first got to know Yolanda well after we shared a room at an IFLA Conference in Manila in the early eighties. She was reserved, not an easy person to get to know but once you became her friend, she was really, really nice, fun to be with and to share meals with.
I was part of the “Auntie Brigade” at NLB’s Digital Library Services (DLS) together with her and knew her professionally as well. I left DLS earlier than Yolanda but had the privilege of working with her for several years. A devout Catholic, she walked almost every day to St Ignatius Church, before she continuing her long journey to work.
Her passing was a big shock and I am still trying to come to terms with her death. We, her friends, miss her but know she is in a better place forever. Goodbye, Yolanda.
