Obituary for Paul Tye
Paul Tye Sek Kuan, 55 passed away on 19 August 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Paul began his library career as a trainee librarian at National University of Singapore Libraries in 1981. He was attached to Cataloguing Department and subsequently Medical Library before he left to pursue his diploma course in Library Studies at the Western Institute of Technology in 1984. After his return from study leave, he was attached to Medical Library for 6 years (August 1985 to March 1991). He then went on to work in Circulation, Reference, Serials, Reprographic Services and Media Resources Department of the Central Library during the period 1991 -2004. In August 2004, he was deployed to Technical Services presently known as Library Asset Management. He was a strong supporter of the NUS Campus Green Programmes and participated in environment-friendly projects. Colleagues and friends who knew Paul would remember him as book lover often spotted in bookstores and public libraries. Paul is survived by his wife Sharon, his sister Anne and her family.
