Highly Regarded
I first met Yolanda when she joined the University of Malaya (MU) Library in 1966 as a Library Assistant. She left in 1968 to head the RELC Library while I was overseas on sabbatical. She worked under me as a cataloguer, and was very good at her work. I came to know her better after I moved to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) as University Librarian, and during that period we used to visit each other regularly, and always found time to have a meal together. She was highly regarded by her peers and colleagues, her library staff and the professional RELC staff. I was always impressed by her management style, and her ability to build an excellent library service with relatively limited resources.
I regret very much not keeping in close touch with her after I left Malaysia for Australia to take up the University Librarian position in Monash University. She will be sadly missed.
