LAS Competency Framework for Information Professionals – DRAFT
The LAS Competency Framework workgroup is pleased to present the Draft LAS Competency Framework for Information Professionals_May 2025. We welcome questions, comments and feedback from members to help us further refine the framework.
The framework seeks to align with a nationwide move towards competencies-based development. It was designed to be inclusive and relevant to all information professionals regardless of industry and types of libraries. It seeks to guide professional development plans and progression. It is not intended to be used for assessment.

The workgroup was formed in 2024 by the Training and Development committee to look into the competency framework.

Brainstorming group
On 27 June 2024, a brainstorming session was organized with a diverse group of LAS members to discuss key elements of the framework.
