Membership

By joining LAS, you are joining a community who represent and advocate the interests of library and information professionals in Singapore. Take advantage of the Association’s programmes, training, networks, awards and grants, and resources.

Membership Term

  • LAS membership is based on calendar year. Subscription fees are due annually on 1 January and membership expires on 31 December each year.
  • New members who join LAS between 1 June and 31 October of the year shall pay only 50% of the subscription fee for that year.
  • New members who join LAS between 1 November and 31 December of the year shall pay the annual subscription fee and will enjoy membership benefits up to 31 December of the following year.

New Members

You can join as a personal member by filling up this online Personal Membership form. Do read up on membership categories, annual fees and benefits before signing up.

If you represent an institutional library, a school library or an organisation that is interested in library and information work, you can apply for an institutional membership by filling up this online Institutional Membership form. Do read up on the membership categories, annual fees and benefits before signing up.

Returning Members

Renew your personal membership using the online Personal membership Renewal form by 31 December. If you are changing your membership category for example, from Associate to Professional, please fill up the online Personal Membership form instead.

Institutions should contact the LAS Membership committee.

Important note! Renewing membership on time ensures that your membership benefits are not affected.

If your personal particulars such as employment, mailing address or email address have changed, you can inform the Association of the change by notifying via email to membership@las.org.sg

Payment Mode

We accept payment by cash, cheque, PayPal, and credit card via Paypal. New members must not make payment until the application has been accepted. Please wait for an email from the Membership committee.

Professional Membership

  • Persons with recognised** professional degrees / post-graduate diplomas in library and information science or equivalent professional qualifications

Associate Membership

  1. Persons with recognised para-professional diplomas/certificates in library and information science or equivalent qualifications
  2. Persons engaged in library and information services but do not hold professional degrees / post-graduate diplomas in library and information studies
  3. Full-time students of library and information science courses

Affiliate Membership

  • Persons interested in the objectives of the LAS and are not engaged in library and information services and do not hold professional degrees/diplomas in library and information studies/science

Professional Life Membership

  • Persons who have been professional members for not less than five consecutive years
