Faces of LAS Committees – Part 2


Ms Phoebe Lim
Chair, Training and Development

Phoebe has been playing the academic librarian for close to 20 years at Nanyang Technological University. She is currently involved in learning and development. Phoebe likes trying new ways of doing things, finding connections and growing others.

The Training and Development committee looks after the training and development needs of members. These could be organising workshops, training events, or curating training materials and more. They are also working on librarians’ competencies at the national level.  

Her team includes:

  • Malarvele Ilangovan, National Library Board, Senior Librarian

    • The Training and Development Committee takes care of the training and development needs of members. We are also leading the national discussions on critical competencies and literacies for the 21st century information professionals.
    There is a lot to do.

    Ms Lo Wan Ni
    Chair, Programmes and Engagement

    Wan Ni has been in LAS for 10 years, and was a Publications Committee member prior. Professionally, she is in National Library Board’s Strategy Division, and was public librarian and library manager earlier.

    Programmes and Engagement creates opportunities for members to widen their networks and learn experientially through social events, learning visits. Their committee also aspires to forge stronger relationship with PPM (Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia ) and other library associations in the region and around the world.
