John Hickok, a Librarian/Instructor at California State University Fullerton and Chair of the American Library Association’s International Relations Roundtable Orientation Committee was invited by National Library Board to speak to librarians from Singapore on 19 July 2011 at the National Library Building – amongst which LAS members were also invited to attend. For those of you who had missed out, John had explain briefly his study of many libraries across Asia (he had visited more than a few hundred libraries across Asia) and compared the various library services and practices. In lieu of the short time available for presentation – he highlighted the best examples he had observed from his research covering 9 areas of Library services – Information Commons, Mobile Digital Librarianship, Social Networking Tools, Distance Learners, Virtual Collections, Technical Services, Marketing/Promotions, Reference and Information Literacy and Library Space Planning.
John’s biodata and his publication information (including slide presentations) are available from this web page: http://users.library.fullerton.edu/jhickok/research.htm
