Hi all,
Welcome to the middle of the year of 2013 – and yes the haze has reached hazardous proportions, so I hope everyone is able to stay healthy despite the filthy air we have to breathe in.
This month we have received 2 articles from our members – one from the Manager of Central Public Library, Lin Li who will feature her newly open (just at the end of last month) children section with the Green Library. The other article is from Gerrie of Lien Ying Chow Library (Ngee Ann Polytechnic) with news about her library recently adding 2 interesting work/play areas for its users for their Lifestyle Library. Please click on the links to jump to their articles – Green Library and Lifestyle Library.
On behalf of the WLIC2013 publication project team, I would like to thank all the contributors to the project – and yes, we have selected 99 stories to be printed as part of the souvenir publication for the up-coming IFLA WLIC 2013 event coming up in August 2013 (if you haven’t sign up, please do, as this is probably the one and only time that this event will happen in Singapore – it took us many attempts to convince them to bring the event to Singapore). Contributons to stories and information about yourselves or your libraries are still welcomed, as we are planning to build a website that is dynamic and hopefully always growing together with you. The website we are building will feature the Libraries and Librarians in Singapore – we hope that it becomes somewhat like a Library/Librarian Directory cum a Who’s-Who sort of list – but we will know as we progress further. Please see this as an opportunity for our counterparts from around the world being able to find you – as we will be featuring this website as part of our book launch event.
May we have fresh air! – Yit
