August 2011 Update

New Chair – New Tagline
Hi all readers, having recently taken over the chair for publishing, I would like firstly, to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Yeo Pin Pin for having done an excellent job for LAS through the years. We will not be missing her as I have obtained the Council’s support to appoint her as a co-editor for our publications.  One of her main task is collating the tributes that we have collected from those who have worked with or known our beloved member Ms. Yolanda Beh (so please watch out for it – akan datang) – members are also encouraged to add in your comments once the article is published.

So, what’s our new tagline for publishing? It’s “In Sight, In Touch and In Tune“; we hope that SLB will help LAS members keep in sight the stuff that’s important to us, and also keep us in touch with each other and catch up on news about ourselves and our institutions, and as well as helping us stay in tune to the changes, challenges and developments around us that impact our industry.  In this regard, we will thus need your help – we need you as activists and journalists to tell us what’s happening at and around your space and share with the rest of us.

Call for SLB Journalists

To support a vibrant and active SLB, we will need volunteers to report the news as they happen around you.  I have also obtained Council’s support for PDS points for appointed journalists that join the SLB Journalist Committee.  Please apply directly to me for membership to this committee – naturally, I am looking for representations across our institutions but I won’t be refusing those who have the passion and the drive to contribute to SLB – so please drop me a note if you are interested.
