You are invited to a talk by Emily Drabinski, President-elect of the American Library Association, at 5pm on 15 February 2023 in the Senior Library at Tanglin Trust School. Emily will be in Singapore as she is a keynote speaker at the upcoming Librarians Knowledge Sharing Workshop.
“Working Knowledge: Libraries and the Ways We Learn” will explore just how much a library does—and how intimately linked it is to both learning and creating community. It takes a lot of work to make a library run. This talk will look under the hood to explain how libraries make learning magic.
Emily is a Critical Pedagogy Librarian at the Mina Rees Library at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She has worked in libraries for more than twenty years in positions ranging from looseleaf legal filer to library director. She believes in building worker power as a means of transforming our workplaces, communities, and ourselves.
Admission to the talk is free, however, RSVP is required (for security reasons). Note: Drinks and refreshments will be served, starting from 4:30pm.
Hope you can join us!
