Strategic Data Stacks Initiative
– Lead coordination with internal stakeholders (researchers, SMU offices such as IT teams) and external partners (data owners, government agencies) to establish and maintain a data catalogue aligned with SMU’s strategic research areas.
– Drive adoption of the enTRUST platform by designing and delivering training for faculty to effectively explore and navigate SMU data resources.
– Oversee onboarding and researcher engagement with enTRUST tools (e.g. Amazon Workspaces, SageMaker Studio, JupyterLab), ensuring a seamless user experience.
– Develop institutional training frameworks and guidance on data anonymization and data linking workflows, promoting responsible and ethical use of data.
– Produce and maintain user guides, training materials, and FAQs that build sustainable capacity in the use of the data catalogue and secure analysis environments.

Research Data Management Responsibilities
– Lead the implementation and continuous refinement of SMU’s revised RDM policy and institutional guidelines.
Develop and deliver training, guidance, and templates to strengthen researchers’ ability to prepare effective Data Management Plans (DMPs).
– Facilitate and promote the systematic deposit of research data into the SMU Research Data Repository and other approved storage solutions, ensuring compliance with institutional and funder requirements.
– Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to design and enhance workflows, SOPs, and best practices that embed robust RDM across the research lifecycle.
– Any other duties as assigned.
