Senior Assistant Manager, Library Space Transformation and Safety

The Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore seeks a passionate individual to transform library spaces to meet evolving needs of users and to maintain a conducive physical environment for learning and research. Reporting to Head, Library Services Division, the individual will also champion workplace health and safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conceptualize library space transformation to address evolving needs of library users.
  • Conduct user studies and environmental scanning to inform space planning and conceptualization.
  • Lead in projects, monitor project progress, and resolve roadblocks.
  • Analyse space usage data to identify ways to optimize impact.
  • Forecast and track budget and manpower resources for space transformation projects.
  • Oversee all library and office spaces to ensure cleanliness and that facilities are in working order.
  • Serve as key point of contact with ODFM on all facility matters including compliance.
  • Develop a set of SOPs for effective maintenance of all facilities and make sure that they are being followed.
  • Organize training for all library staff on proper use of facilities and equipment.
  • Lead library’s effort to align and meet organisational workplace health and safety goals.
  • Act as key liaison with OHS for library.
  • Lead compliance efforts by chairing the Library’s Health and Safety Committee.
  • Plan and organize programmes for all library staff to raise safety awareness.
  • Lead safety audit preparation and participation.
  • Contribute to SASD’s compliance efforts by participating in the SASD Health and Safety committee.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in information studies or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS).
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Forms.
  • Familiarity with principles of space planning and design.
  • Good knowledge of safety regulations and standards relevant to public spaces and workspaces.
  • Good knowledge of library operations.
  • 5 years of working experience in academic, research or special libraries.
  • Experience in workplace safety practices adoption.
  • Data analytic skills to interpret data and draw insights.
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work well.
  • Good presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Good project management skills.
